About Miner Book Co.

  • Me, Sarah Miner! I’m a book designer, bookbinder, and papermaker. I also run the business-side of Miner Book Co., which involves managing inventory, packing orders, and many other boring admin related tasks. If you run a small business, you definitely must wear many different hats to keep things going!

  • In college, I studied creative writing and took a special topics class all about the handmade book. This was my first introduction to bookbinding and handmade books, and I fell in love. Since, I’ve done a lot more research, studying, and practicing on my own to create well-crafted books.

    Papermaking is a more recent exploration. I started making paper in the summer of 2020 and have slowly been learning as I go. I’m entirely self-taught. Making paper is labor intensive work, but so rewarding when finally seeing the dried, final product.

  • There are a lot of resources online, yet both hobbies are still relatively niche. A starting point would be checking out my blog, Instagram, and TikTok. I try to post helpful content across all three platforms. At least, it will give you a jumping off point to start exploring the crafts on your own.

  • I live in the land of 10,000 lakes (a.k.a., Minnesota, USA).

Customs

  • Cost is project-specific and can’t be ballparked. Factors that affect cost include: the number of copies ordered, if you will need design services, complexity of the design, length of the book, materials used, and more. The best way to get a sense of the cost is to contact me to get the proposal process started.

  • Turnaround is dependent on the number of copies ordered, whether or not you will need design services, material lead times, and/or my current availability. On average, custom projects take 2 weeks to 1 month for production. Once we’ve started discussing your project, I’ll be able to better pinpoint the turnaround time.

  • First, compile your ideas and send them to me via my contact form. Be as detailed as possible. I’ll then send you a proposal which includes a breakdown of cost, time, and materials. If approved on your end, we can begin work. Payment terms will depend on project type, which will be indicated on your proposal.

  • I hope it doesn’t come to this! However if it must . . .

    Due to the nature of custom work, it is not refundable, returnable, or exchangeable. Should there be a problem with your order, we’ll work together to come up with a solution.

Shipping

  • I do! I’m currently only shipping to these countries outside the U.S.: United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Singapore, Philippines, Canada.

  • Yes, all orders will receive a tracking number.

  • This depends on the product. Ready-made journals are available to ship within 1 business day after an order is placed. Custom orders or made-to-order products ship within 1 day after the production window closes.

    Consult with the listing you’re interested in purchasing to determine the product type and production window (if applicable).

  • Maybe. It depends how Miner Book Co. grows. If you are definitely interested in purchasing something and live in a country I’m not currently shipping to, please contact me and we may be able to work out a custom shipping arrangement.
